Retrace the journey
All the tasks were clearly divided. Flight preparations were made at the Stabilimento Costruzioni Aeronautiche in Rome, following my full initiative and under my direction. On the other hand, the Norwegian Aeroclub – according to the directives I gave from Rome – was collaborating in the preparation of the ground bases and was providing clothing and food and all the equipment that could have been useful in case of descent on ice: sleds, tents, boats, backpacks, ammunition.

(quote translated by Roberta Rodelli)
