At King’s Bay, in the following days, the definitive crew of the NORGE is formed: the group of people preparing to fly over the North Pole.
The crew includes, as initially established, 16 people in all: 8 Norwegians, 6 Italians, 1 Swedish, 1 American. The non-Italian members of the expedition has been selected by Amundsen and, when assigned to governing the airship, has received full training in Italy under the supervision and direct instruction of Nobile. Norwegian telegraphist Storm-Johnsen was added to the crew at the last minute, replacing the Russian Olonkin.
The airship is refueled and prepared: everything is ready for the last departure.
